It's been almost eight years since the viral video about mortgages starring Simón Pérez and Silvia Charro , and in recent days we've learned the inside story of a video that changed the lives of both the economist and the real estate agent.
The program 'Equipo de Investigación' was able to talk with them about how that recording came about and delve into everything it meant for their careers afterwards .
Charro, who doesn't want to watch the video again, is visibly moved and says it was a life-changing event. "I feel sad, we made so many mistakes..." she admits.
The economist herself says she had only been working at the office for a short time and talks about her relationship with Pérez, who was her partner at the time. It was then that a media outlet approached them to record a video about mortgages, but everything went awry.
The video didn't record well and had to be re-recorded due to technical issues. Charro was at a company luncheon and had to leave to go record. When she arrived back at the offices, she was completely drunk.
That's when Pérez came up with the idea of buying cocaine to lessen the effects of the alcohol, but the result wasn't what he expected. "We recorded the video, left, and it was on 'Periodista Digital' for about 15 days without anyone saying anything to us. I thought maybe it hadn't been as good as the first one and they'd decided not to upload it ," Pérez says.
Everything blew up a few weeks later, when, returning from dinner, they both received dozens of calls alerting them to the video and the lynching they were receiving on social media.
